William & Kate: Puppy Love?

Kate Middleton hunting with Prince William and Prince Harry on the Sandringham estate (Dec 2008)

Clive Goodman at the Daily Star writes this weekend that Prince William has a warm and cuddly Christmas present picked out for girlfriend Kate Middleton: a new puppy.

And what’s more, Goodman says, like William, the dog has its own pedigreed background: “Prince William has asked gamekeepers at Sandringham to find a chocolate labrador from the royal estate’s bloodline as a Christmas present for Kate Middleton.”  Goodman interprets this present of a royal puppy as another sign that Kate has been welcomed into the royal fold.

Kate has been photographed out shooting and stalking with various members of the royal family, including William, Harry, and Charles, on the Sandringham and Balmoral estates in the past.  (News of the World reporter Robert Jobson even writes that Kate and William were at Sandringham recently as a part of a shooting party: “William took Kate Middleton to the Queen’s country house this weekend – with Her Majesty’s royal seal of approval.”)

However, Goodman also repeats the rumors that Kate is once again off to America to learn about photography, so I’d suggest that we all take this puppy news with a large grain of salt — or, maybe, we should all sit and stay until we see Kate romping around with the new family member? :)

Frederik & Mary: The Couple That Hunts Together…

Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, and Prince Christian at the annual Royal Hunt (27 Nov 2009)

While all of the American readers here were digging into their turkey leftovers on Friday, the Danish royal family was participating in the annual Royal Hunt near Fredensborg Castle in Denmark.

Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik were among the attendees, as were their young son, Prince Christian, and Queen Margrethe.

Hunting, though a controversial pursuit, is still a major part of the autumn and winter activities for several royal families in Europe.  Along with the Danes, the British royal family is frequently photographed stalking and shooting on their estates in Norfolk and Scotland.

Beatrice & Dave: Blue Skirt, Blue Jeans

Princess Beatrice of York and Dave Clark leaving Boujis nightclub in London (25 Nov 2009)

Princess Beatrice of York and her longtime boyfriend, Dave Clark, were spotted leaving Boujis nightclub in London in the wee hours of the morning on November 25.

The Mail Online reports that the two were helping to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the popular nightspot.

Beatrice, who looked lovely in a blue satin skirt, and Dave, wearing a button-down shirt and blue jeans, may have helped close the place down as well — they reportedly left the club at three o’clock in the morning.

Felipe & Letizia: Love in London

Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia attend the Foreign Press Association Media Awards (24 Nov 2009)

While Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were on an official visit to Bermuda on Tuesday, two other royals staged a mini British invasion: Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia were in London to attend the Foreign Press Association Media Awards.

The ceremony was held at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel in London.  Felipe looked smart in a tuxedo (with his beard still present and accounted for), and Letizia looked lovely in a cobalt-blue evening gown and sparkly diamond earrings.

Philippe & Mathilde: Tanger for Two

Crown Prince Philippe and Crown Princess Mathilde in Tanger, Morocco (25 Nov 2009)

Crown Prince Philippe and Crown Princess Mathilde of Belgium are in Morocco this week on an trade mission.  Several meetings with Moroccan royalty have been on the visit’s official schedule, including a sit-down between Mathilde and Lalla Salma, the wife of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

Mathilde and and Philippe, affectionate as ever, will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary next week.  I love Mathilde’s bright color choices for her clothes in this photo, taken at the Port of Tanger.  And it looks like Philippe is still competing in the royal beard Olympics with Prince Felipe of Spain…
