Prince Albert of Monaco and his companion, Charlene Wittstock, are currently in the United States, where Albert received an award from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in California.
The pair visited the Scripps Institution in San Diego, where Albert was awarded the Roger Revelle Prize. KGTV 10, a local San Diego television station, reports that Albert earned the award “for his efforts to promote scientific research and protect the environment.” He’s only the second recipient, after former American Vice President Al Gore.
KGTV adds, “The prince is being recognized for leading efforts to protect the environment through the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, which works to raise awareness about environmental challenges. His work has focused on promoting scientific research, protection of the polar regions and creating awareness of ocean acidification.”
