Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark with their newborn son

The Danish royal house has released the first set of official family photos featuring Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, and their new baby son.

The photos feature close-ups of the new little prince, shots with his proud parents, and a family portrait that also includes Joachim’s sons from his first marriage to Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix.

The name of the new baby will be announced on July 26, 2009, at his christening.  It is traditional in the Danish royal family not to release the name until the baby is baptized.

Willem-Alexander & Maxima: School Days

Prince William-Alexander and Princess Maxima of The Netherlands take daughters Amalia and Alexia to school (29 Jun 2009)

Another milestone for the Dutch crown princely couple: their second daughter, Princess Alexia, attended her first day of school on June 29, 2009.

Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima accompanied Alexia to school along with eldest daughter Princess Amalia.  The family participated in a photocall to mark the occasion.  Alexia proudly wore a brand-new “Dora the Explorer” backpack.

Willem-Alexander and Maxima agreed to have Alexia start school during the summer rather than the fall to avoid disrupting the first day of school for the other children who will attend.

Felipe & Letizia: Claustrophobic in Catalan?

The Prince and Princess of Asturias at the establishment of the constitution of the Prince of Girona Foundation (26 Jun 2009)

Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Spain had an interesting experience Friday at a meeting to inaugurate the constitution of the newly-founded Prince of Girona Foundation.

The prince and princess were riding in an elevator when it stalled, trapping them inside for more than twenty minutes while workers attempted to get it restarted.  Felipe and Letizia joked afterward that they didn’t mind at all staying longer in the region, with Letizia quipping, “You see how much we wanted to stay in Girona?”

Though Felipe most often uses the title of “Prince of Asturias,” which is the title designated for the heir apparent to the Spanish throne, he also holds “Prince of Girona” as one of his subsidiary titles.  The title dates from the time of the Kings of Aragon, when it was given to the heir to that kingdom’s throne.  Today, Girona is located in the Catalan region of Spain.

Harry & Chelsy: Reunited (And It Feels So Good)?

Prince Harry and ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy in happier days

Hello! magazine writes this week that Prince Harry and ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy may be on the verge of reuniting.

The article quotes a friend of the couple, who explains, “They have been catching up a lot with emails and texts. They’ve also been seeing each other quietly. Basically it looks like soon enough they will be back on.”

Harry reportedly recently ended a fling with television presenter Caroline Flack, and though he has also been linked to the likes of Natalie Pinkham and Astrid Harbord, he hasn’t been seen out with any new female friends of late.

For her part, Chelsy has been seen out with Dan Philipson as recently as earlier this month.  The article is silent on the status of their relationship.
