BBC News and other outlets report that Lord Frederick Windsor has announced his engagement to Sophie Winkleman! Lord Frederick is the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the first cousin once removed of Queen Elizabeth II.
After her marriage, Sophie will be officially titled Lady Frederick Windsor. However, any children of the couple will not bear a title, but instead will use only the surname “Windsor.”
Frederick. 29, who was educated at Eton and Oxford, works as an analyst for investment bank JP Morgan in London. Sophie, 28, is an actress with numerous credits to her name. She has appeared in several television productions, including Peep Show and Ruddy Hell! It’s Harry and Paul. She portrayed Princess Eleanor on The Palace, a television programme that imagined the lives of a fictional royal family living in Buckingham Palace. She also appeared in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in 2005, and she recently completed an episode of the BBC’s current Robin Hood series.
Frederick reportedly proposed to his fiancee on St. Valentine’s Day. No further details about the upcoming nuptials have been announced, though it seems likely that Frederick and his future wife will follow recent precedents set by two of his royal cousins, Lady Davina Lewis and Lady Rose Gilman, by having a low-key wedding at a royal chapel.
